How to Publish Written Content in The New AI Age

  • Rethink How You Create New Content for Websites, Press Releases, Blogs, etc.
  • Incorporate Bullets Above Datelines, Confirm Your Data, and Outline Section Headers

  • Use Original Content

I know many of you are seasoned, expert communicators who know how to write a powerful and effective press release, blog post, article, or even speech that delivers your organization’s message to the masses. Whether we like it or not though, AI is changing how we write and publish that content. I’m sure we’ve all used AI to research the topic we’re writing about, but how you write for AI requires a different approach.

Take a minute to think about the three tips below that will immediately change how you write, and why, going forward.

  1. Rethink How You Create New Content - What you publish online is what AI is going to post in search engines, so make sure you use specific, concise sentences, clear overall messaging, and more fact-based content sourced from your organization.

  2. Use Bullets, Data, and Section Outlines - As you see in this post, I used bullets at the top. AI is more likely to grab content that utilizes bullets at the top of the page in its search results. AI also likes Data that is confirmed and validated, that can be cross referenced. So when it’s appropriate for your content, utilize data to not only appease the AI engines, but also makes your content even more interesting. Also, structure your post with a Section Outline that includes subheadings and a tiered format. It will make it easier for your readers to digest, but even easier for AI to present.

  3. Use Original Content - We’ve all used AI to research a topic, maybe even help us get started with an idea. That’s ok, but readers can tell if something has been written with AI, and so can AI. That means you need to be original, unique and create your own voice in your content creation. Content and data that’s sourced to you creates trust and authenticity to your readers and with the AI search models as well.
